I personally think that hip hop from the 90's is better but, what do u think
(I'm doing my english project on this)

In the 90's Hip Hop was still good that was closer to mainstream now I can't listen to anything close to mainstream. Classic beats made with SP1200's had that great feel now since these Timbaland types influence the latest generation I feel Hip Hop has lost its Soul and Jazz roots in favour of some spaced out funk. It was inevitable I guess with the GFunk sounds of the mid90's but today you really have to look for the crate diggin DJs with the old loops and breaks to find what I Love about Hip Hop. It's there but masked by the MTV of Modern Hip Hop. There is no diversity with these new chart tracks. MOstly the Hip Hop I like today still sounds like it has a 90's feel to it. What I do like is Old School Hip Hop maybe not as much as the 90's as I grew up with that but I do like to hear how it paved the way and the fact it was more enjoyable and groundbreaking than todays stuff.

90's
90's.
beyond any shadow of a doubt the 90's
90's and 80's were better. lyrical content is lacking these days.
Todays hip hop music is mostly made on nice beats:timbaland and easy to sing and dance to:soulja boy! but in the 90's it was about actually getting the message out to the people:wu tang clan
90's~
most definitely the 90's....todays hip hop talks bout a lot of pointless things things with no type of meaning....but music of the 90's all of that hip hop had some type of meaning behind the words!!
90 is better of course but there is a new generation of mc's

I prefer the music from today, but i also am a fan of the 90's too. Its impossible to just say a preference like that. If you feel like that then there is no need for you to even be on this section, or check for new songs or cds anywhere. If you really believe this then you should only buy cds from the 90's era. If you really feel like this then you should not even consider watching MTV, if you feel like this then you must believe hip hop is dead. True hip hop heads dont give their opinion of whether the BEST hip hop is from the 90's or now, because true hip hop heads always know where to find good, real hip hop no matter what year it is.
Yes, It's very great

well theres no doubt that the 90s were better in general but emcees are still comming with alot of knowledge and talent. im talking about underground hip hop artists tho not that bullshit on tv that has no meaning aka recycled nonesense...love live the real hip hop no matter what decade it is real music is timeless
easily 90s,
LL lead the charge with beastie boys, gangstarr,p.e taking over from the likes of run dmc, etc.
Label fams were tight.
def jam, bad boy, loud and death row had the majority of decent rappers on their rosters then came the likes of the little independants that could - no limit etc. others like ruthless, rap a lot,
Sources 5 mics was always anticipated b4 the controvisy.
The was real beef, and real beats. Introduction of gangster rap and speed rap.
Longevity for this decade of rap artists will be better than the current one. And 90s rappers more respected on a whole thru the hip hop masses. But in saying that u got to respect what these yung cats are doing today in the world of hip hop - which same have taken the form to the next level in the likes of kanye and game.
Another question is what part of the 90s was hip hop at its best - in my opionion definatly not the later w em or early days of hammer and ice.
95-96 for me - Nas, Raekwon, Ghost, Biggie.
the 90's hiphop scene was great, nowadays all they tend to 'rap' to is cars and hoes,money....basically if you are rapping about 'crap' all you have to do nowadays is put on some 'good' club beats.
90's
90's hip hop is great but I think there are still good emcees in todays music they are just a little harder to find than in the earlier days..everything changes and evolves into something else over time ..... I think no once could've ever thought that hip hop was gonna stay the same as it did in the early to mid 90's up until now ..
